In April 1990, a group of 13 outstanding university professionals aware of contributing to the development of the country, decided to contribute to the development of the nation in matters of social development with an emphasis on education. It was thus that they became founders of what is now the Fundación Universidad Metropolitana de Honduras (FUMH).

After an arduous voluntary work and motivated by his vision, in the month of October 1998, the profile of the “Metropolitan University of Honduras Foundation” was arranged; signing the Constitutive Act as a prerequisite to prove the Request for Legal Personality and Approval of the Statute at the appropriate time.

Subsequently, and thanks to the corresponding publication in the Official Gazette No. 29544 of August 1, 2001, the FUMH was created by approving its Certification of Legal Status number 89-2001.

Since then, a series of initiatives and execution of projects have been carried out for the benefit of society, in particular for vulnerable populations in the Historic Center of the Capital City.
